Two different metrics
- Latency (ping): the round-trip time in milliseconds — affects how fast pages open and how a game feels.
- Speed: how many MB per second it moves — affects downloads and video quality.
Testing in v2rayN
Select a node: Test latency (Tcping) measures the handshake; Test real delay actually hits the target and is closer to real feel; Speed test downloads a file to gauge bandwidth (it uses data — mind your quota on a paid plan).
Reading the numbers
- Latency
timeout / -1: node is down, skip it. - Low latency but pages still slow: bandwidth may be throttled — confirm with a speed test.
- After a batch test, sort by latency and try the top few by hand.
