Common v2rayN errors and how to fix them

Port already in use

address already in use means 10808/10809 is taken by another program. In Parameter settings, change the local listen port to something else (e.g. 20808), or close a leftover v2rayN process that didn't exit cleanly.

Core not found / crash on start

core: v2ray/xray not found means the core wasn't unpacked. Manually run Check for updates → "Update Xray Core", or confirm your antivirus hasn't deleted xray.exe as malware (very common).

Connected but connection reset

Mismatched handshake parameters — usually a wrong UUID, encryption method or SNI, or a dead node. Re-update from the subscription; if it still fails, switch nodes.

Read the log

Open the log window; red rejected / failed lines spell out the domain and reason, far faster than guessing.
