04 — FAQ

FAQ

How are v2rayN and V2Ray related?

V2Ray (and its successors Xray and sing-box) is the “core” that forwards your traffic — command line only. v2rayN is the graphical front-end that runs on top of a core, handling node management, subscription updates and routing. They work together, and v2rayN already bundles the common cores, so it works out of the box.

Which file should I download on Windows?

Use v2rayN-windows-64-SelfContained.7z — it bundles the .NET runtime and runs as soon as you unzip it. If you pick the slim build without “SelfContained”, install the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime first. Windows 7 users should stay on the 4.x line.

Which protocols are supported?

VMess, VLESS (including REALITY), Trojan, Shadowsocks, SOCKS and HTTP are supported natively. Switch to the sing-box core and you also get newer protocols such as Hysteria2, TUIC and WireGuard.

GitHub is slow or blocked — what now?

You can download through a GitHub Releases mirror, but always confirm the file name matches the official repo and compare the hash published on the Release page. Never grab installers from random cloud drives or chat groups — backdoored “repacks” are common.

What should I use on mobile?

On Android, v2rayNG (same author as v2rayN) is the top pick. On iOS you need a non-China Apple ID; good options are Shadowrocket (paid) or V2Box (free) — see the table above.

Does v2rayN cost anything?

It is completely free and open source under GPL-3.0. Anyone selling you a “v2rayN license” or “activation code” is reselling or repackaging it — get it straight from the official GitHub repo. This site sells nothing and provides no proxy service.
